The MetO viewpoint on the coming week without looking into the finite detail of predicting snow events, which often aren't nailed until <t+6.

GET THE COLD IN AND THE SNOW WILL COME.

Well brace yourselves, the cold is coming. drinks.gif

Even if we can't have snow, I'm happy we're getting something wintry. Nightime temps looks to be around -5 next week.

At least. As things stand currently, I'm plugging for a -10c for our ruralised inhabitants Wednesday night.

Well BBC are showing snow for my area tonight, but as the second front pushes down tomorrow that will then melt any that has settled. Might be lucky enough to see a dusting on my way to work at 6am tomorrow but it will be gone by the time I am provided freedom from the office in the evening. Better than the mild wet weather we had in December still! Friday is looking interesting for us westerners it will all depend how far the front moves East and also its angle of attack.

If we managed to get a few flurrys to give a small covering in places it could go lower..

Yup. We will have to wait to nearer the time for specific detail though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see you remain below freezing from Tuesday morning until Thursday night, with a bit of luck. It's possible.

Unlikely but I am hoping the rain doesnt quite wash it all away maybe on high ground tmoro so I can get some harder frosts recorded. going to have to just watch this evening to see how things pan out.

We have a dusting on mendip still out of direct sun but it really is small ill see if i can upload a picture somehow without my cable thingy

That's see what the NAE looks like, it will be out soon. Also looking forward to seeing the 12z GFS UKMO and ECM for later in the week. Is all go go go.

Would like them DP's to drop more.

Is there a place for questions and answers anywhere?

It's just that I watched the BBC video about SSW and the plunge of Arctic air about to descend into north America - is that a good thing for us???

Not to bad really although have you got the next frame to see how quick cold air backs west into ppn again?

It will fire up the Jet Stream and release some strong depressions into Atlantic.

It's where the Jet takes them there critical. If the energy goes into the southern arm of the Jet then we will remain in the right side of the energy to remain in the colder air. If the energy goes into the northern arm and Greenland then it puts pressure on the block to our north east and increases the milder Atlantic presence.

Metcheck have to be one of the most unreliable weather sites I have ever seen, though they are the only people allowing me to cling on to the last piece of hope because they say snow all day tomorrow for me. I wouldn't believe it when all of the other models are against it.

Ahh not to much of a change then. Still a little snow before hand.
