Our winter forecast, written and presented by Stewart Rampling (Glacier Point) is now online - the headline is that a colder than average winter is expected...

http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=winter-forecast-2012;sess=

There are two video versions of the forecast available to view on the page - a full version and the forecast summary, along with the full presentation that you can go through in your own time.

Thanks Stewart, I just HOPE that folk listen and watch CAREFULLY ALL you say and show.

An awful lot of work gone into that.

Nice one guys, fills us with confidence when you lot at net weather are quite bullish of a below average winter. The signals are there so model watching Is going to be a good do this winter!!

1.5 to 3 degrees below average (or even 4 in parts of Europe), now that is impressive.

Edit: And thank you very much for your time and effort Stuart!

Thanks GP and good luck.

I am sure even with worse case scenario of just below average, we will get some good cold spells and a few shots at some snow.

I hate to bang on but I refer back to my earlier post, you cannot trust the models post 120hrs, any of them, not just the UKMO. Personally I think the models do a fine job, its people’s expectations of what they can deliver that’s the problem. 06z creeping out now and small changes early on from the 00z, it remains to be seen what the cumulative effect of these will have over the coming days.

Just out of interest, as a baseline for newer members such as myself, how did last seasons forecast fair?

Pretty well - you can read it here:

Going off memory of what did occur last year, that was pretty good!

First Class presentation Stewart and good luck for your predictions. Colder than average I'm sure will be appreciated, but so will the drier than average following all the rain recently and through the summer.

Signature GP- an absolute class act in modern forecasting. Well explained, technical analysis that hopefully will be useful for those not only this season, but maybe next and those beyond.

Just a quick question re the video forecast.

Between 24 mins and 27 mins GP talks about the temps in December & January ( Bottom Chart ). I cant quite make out what those two blue circles one surrounding the uk as a whole and another circling southern uk and Europe indicate with the writing can anybody help me out?
