Here we go, somewhere to escape the madness of the Model Output Thread!

relax.jpg

Put your feet up and discuss anything meteorological that falls within our geographical area and with just a smattering of light, on-topic banter and friendly conversation. So are we looking forward to colder conditions and anything they might bring with them? :whistling:

one thing living in this area ,is things can happen at very short notice.

I have noticed when reading the mod thread, opinions vary according to where the person lives sometimes.

I have been trying to think back over the years, most of the snow events were at short notice.

Last year it was all about getting the cold in ans seeing what happens(prob because there wasnt any)

This year it seems the complete reverse get the right set up and wait for the cold?

Now we have some cold over the weekend but the set ups not right?

As of this point just be happy if it doesnt rain tbh.

Some people have had it rough with flooding latley.

Looking forward to the 8th more than anything!

I had to stop last night's model watching, it's so tiring! It's like listening to 3 bickering grown men for advice, the one friend who I rely on the most (ECM) is misguiding me, and the other is joining ranks (GFS) and misguiding me, and then I have a friend who I didn't quite trust as much telling what I wanted to hear (UKMO), but I just don't quite trust him on it - total confusion!

Sending me mad!!!

Looks like when we get the last showers through today, we are in for a drier, colder few days with just a relatively warmer blip next Monday:

Ensembles from gfs look cold

If you look at the mod thread you would think a heatwave was coming

Fi still on the 3rd as still a big spread on that day

More twists to come on the models today

I guess it's hard to realise that it's only the beginning of December and we are already getting our first snap, after that there are still 3 months of winter in which anything can happen.

It might still snow and will be nice but not looking like anything that will last or even settle if it does at this point but that may all change again tonight ;-)

Morning all,

Another shockingly dreary and damp start here....bring on the dry cold weather asap rolleyes.gif

I might cheer myself up by getting the Chringlemas decorations out the loft between clients today...not that the best glass ones will be going on the tree this year with two mischievous kittens in the house....

Horrible journey into work this morning, down flooded roads and in queueing traffic. 40 minutes longer than expected. Oh well, at least I made it.

Looks to be finally drying here; sunny intervals presently.smile.png

Looking forward to 8-12 / Xmas / a winter storm (if it happens) / snow (if it happens) / next Spring!

Without wanting to try and read the madness of the Model Output thread, could someone give us an update to current thinking?

Thanks..

I quickly skirted through the thread this morning and from what I can't make out between the Prozac/ kill myself / doomsday posts are the sustatained cold spell is off. By next Monday we are in an Atlantic influence with cool zonality and poss northerly shots.

Hopefully second half of December can deliver

I always look for Gibby's postings for a rational, unbiased view there - a bit like Ben's postings here.smile.png

Sounds like mine yesterday, what ever happened to flying cars in the 21st Century?

Yep, dark as night here too, dire really sad.png

Pretty much as the GFS weekly free-atmosphere overview I posted earlier. Looks like it could be just a 'snap' at the end of the week but more data needed to see where it goes after Monday.
