Ian has said it's really difficult to call and early today it hadothongfor us really.

Hopefully it moves 50 miles west and misses out on those se folk who always get snow

I just don't want to see all the commercial loss this country would entail if the financial centre of uk (southeast) was to get snow its far better if we take one for the team so to speak as it would be less costly. rofl.gifgood.gifblum.gif

Hail in some of the showers here in Falmouth today. About as wintry as it'll ever get here. :lol: Going back home to the Midlands late next week though so hopefully a better chance of snow over Christmas! :)

Latest nae which Ian f is hinting at.

The east our area is down for 2-5cm on this run, still plenty to be surprised about Glouc, wilts, into n Dorset

Ha - actually nice to the see the damned "M4 corridor" itself in the firing line for a change.

Filton Weather station reporting 3.5C DP at 2C - can only be one outcome from that.

But who knows when the colder air and dew points kick in later??

@gtltw

Just trying to learn from you guys but the ensembles from the gfs show the 850s rising (still below 0) as the ppn comes in. Would this lead to a snow to sleety mix event or would the effect of the evaporative cooling effect (I think that's the right term for cooling with heavier bursts) keep it more snow like?

Cheers chap

Marc

Ian Fergusson â€@fergieweather

To paraphrase issues: some snow by tomorrow AM could fall anywhere from E Wales across to London & Kent, or... just somewhere in between!!!

Haha Nightmare..

That's alright, you're pretty much smack bang in the middle. lol

Just got home & currently have sleety rain. I use the word sleety purely because there was something else coming down in front of my car headlights but it wasn't snow.

Not a bad 18z NAE. Maybe a tad further west would be better but the fact it has widened the snow risk is promising.

Met office have just updated their warnings, North Hampshire could catch some snow if we are lucky.

You say that but look what happened on 4th of november.... never say never good.gif

Thats why i did not say Never, I said dont expect to much from this event! real hit and miss, and the set up is marginal to say the least.

especially for anyone west of London,

this is my opinion and i am often wrong !!!

Early signs for Thursday suggest a rain event to start with but I wonder if all that snow near Scotland can swing SE to us?

What were seeing now is showery rain coming down from the NW, I don't think this is expected to be wintry;

post-12721-0-77642900-1354660857_thumb.j

What were interested in is the occlusion coming down from the north in the early hours, its this that could surprise a few of us;

post-12721-0-77910900-1354660916_thumb.j

This is the area of the front that the cold air could undercut & turn to snow.

Its more sleet than rain but just not quite enough... maybe if you climb to the top of the mendip mast at 600m that would do! rofl.gif

Well I think I hsall make my way to an early night in preperation my my morning disapointment... help.gif

Oh and one other thing... Just imagine how severe that frost could be if we had some snowcover going into wednesday night!
