6.9, provisional to the 29th. Just a tenth or two too high for my guess I think.

When was the last time all 3 Autumn months finished below the 1961-90 average? There is a real possibility now that this could happen.

It will be 5.7C here, I see the year mean is now below 9C at 8.9.

Our 2011 mean was 9.5C and we have a chilly sounding month to go to drop it further this year.

Either 6.1c or 6.2c here. Certainly would have been 6.1C the figure if it wasn't for a mild night as the Max for yesterday was overnight.

Climate UK (Manley) has updated to the end of the month:-

CET: (Nov 1-30): 6.74°C (-0.5 degC)

E&W Rain: (Nov 1-30): 134.1mm (127 per cent)

E&W Sun: (Nov 1-30): 75.0hr (107 per cent)

On the face of it these stats are relatively unremarkable, disguising what for many has been a fairly extreme month.

In terms of the CET the final adjusted Hadley figure doesn't usually stray too far from Manley so somwhere between 6.6 and 6.8 looks fairly probable.

My guess of 6.7c wasn't too shoddy for a CET guessing virgin biggrin.png

November 2012 results have been compiled, and it was very close overall.

Firstly looking at the monthly figures.

An amazing 7 entrants got it spot on. SteveB, Ladyofthestorm, Mr Maunder, liam300, Ninman, shuggee, Gael_Force

In the monthly comp, the 1-2-3 was Isolated Frost, SteveB and fozfoster.

Overall, it was a really tight finish, in 3rd long time leader Reef was only 0-4c out this month, in 2nd Kentish Man was only 0.2c out to rise from 4th.The winner who rose from 3nd last month is DR Hosking.

4th in the seasonal, 30th for the yearly (13th if you take out late entries and 20th if you take out missed entry people).

Pretty pleased overall.

Firstly many thanks to Jackone for once again compiling the competition stats for the year that has just been completed. I am slightly surprised but nevertheless pleased to have finished second in the annual competition. The most noteworthy of the last twelve months for me was the extraordinarily mild, sunny and dry March which had such an unfortunate effect on our agriculture and gardens by advancing everything so far forward but which was so untypical of the largely wet and cool year we've endured since then.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
