Quite a large area of rain to the SW of me. Sun isn't out and hasn't been all morning though. Hopefully it will get going by midday.

Already for todays non-action and taking my usual place in the NSC....

Seriously, wondering if any action for N.Cheshire/ Merseyside today. It's feeling incredibly sticky and humid already and we are getting a nice build up of heat. Bit too much cloud for my liking atm but hopefully the sun will start to get some convection going...slightly hopeful!

Any more informed members got a view?

Well you wouldnt call me an informed member but I like how things are going. The sun is out here now and as you say Cloud watcher feeling very humid. Just hope the flow stayes south of west so that anything in north Wales heads this way as I said earlier.

i think there is too much high and mid level cloud in this area for any convection to take place. a nice clear slot would be very useful!acute.gif

Rain, rain and more rain, started around about 9am, and hasn't really stopped, just slowed a bit. Currently just sheets of that spitty kind of rain that gets you soaked, however a few minutes ago it was quite heavy. The sun tried to break through earlier but the cloud ganged up on it. Cool but not cold!

So then, shall we have a sweepstake to see when the first storm pops up in Lincolnshire?

To add to my previous post, there's been a slight upgrade on the 06z GFS for my location with the instability lasting longer and a higher CAPE value. at the peek of the instability I have a CAPE of 620 and a LI of minus 2.

Yellow Warning of Rain for South West England : Gloucestershire valid from 1400 Wed 18 Jul to 2100 Wed 18 Jul

issued at: 1151 on Wed 18 Jul 2012

Valid from: 1400 on Wed 18 Jul 2012

Valid to: 2100 on Wed 18 Jul 2012

Bands of heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon into the early evening. These could be accompanied by gusty winds and hail.

The public should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding and associated difficult driving conditions. There is also a low risk of more significant disruption due to flooding if the showers were to hit an urban area.

Well they are going to struggle to get their Weekly Supercell in b4 2pm this week, but I reckon that Mid Wales Kirkwood Humbdinger in the making should amble across to there by about 4-6pm this evening, apparantly they are tired of Stovepipes and Cones and only really want to concentrate on Wedges for July rofl.gifblum.gif

Yellow Warning of Hype for North East Wales and North West England valid from 1400 Wed 18 Jul to 0000 End of Time

issued at: 1151 on Wed 18 Jul 2012

Valid from: 1400 on Wed 18 Jul 2012

Valid to: The End of Time

Bands of nothing and excessive bursts of hype are likely this afternoon into the early evening. These could be accompanied by fairytales and myths.

The public should be aware of the risk of falling into the trap of believing this hype which will lead to inevitable disappointment and frustration. There is also a low risk of more significant disruption to mental health as a result of these repeated let downs and busted flushes.

Good looking cell out of my W/SW window. Suns shining which makes the clouds look even more emonous, that will drop some intense PPN at some point.
