Just had a potential system start over the back of the house, it appears to be dropping a little bit of rain over Drax at the moment, and will move off towards the East coast with the wind we've got.

Even with all this cloud cover showers are kicking off??

Affirm, embedded CB's are most likely today. Means they are very hard to spot.

Woooo we have lightning and Thunder in Telford. Rain getting heavier. Street lights have come on. Great stuff and so early in the day.

Excellent and its heading straight for here too but I doubt it will hold its intensity to travel down here.

I bet Telford hasn't had so much fun since 1923

Very hazey and you could feel it was very moist outside this morning. Already CB's starting to build from the West but will be difficult to spot today. Radar is going to come in very handy today as are the polaroid sunglasses :)

Good luck everyone.

This is the scene looking south from Nottingham at the moment, not bad for the time of day, and it's improved since I took this...

Looks like things are getting going west of here on the radar, I'm just worried it will all slide by to the south of Nottingham like yesterday.

It's interesting that the power station smoke is going very straight up and going higher than normal. I guess that's a good sign of convection if it's being pulled higher.

Very impressed by the new Netweather lightning detector. Shows 5 strikes just south of Telford.

But with all this cloud..Surely surface heating is going to be some what tricky????

Look at all the posts around you, it's 11:19am and it's going bang. Not sure how, probably due to the fact that the clouds are relatively thin.

It might be better the further north you go, so down south it's cloudy... this may clear as the CB's approach.

It seems to be moving through fairly quickly. Hardly any wind from this particular cell.

Heading down to the Lee Valley, that's where most of the fun will be!

It is probably 90-95% cloud cover, but the sun is strong through the gaps and also through the thin bits. my solar panel is pumping leccy in even when the cloud is over me.

I am just east of stafford at the moment and there are some Big Big clouds forming.

I totally understand...They hopefully should build as they head south..The air feels very "wet" if that makes sense...

Wow - Thunder down the road in Telford and just a little rain here. However there have been three of four cells that have skirted the area today that have looked pretty intense (another just building as it passed over). We might get lucky

Got some assorted fluff building up either side now. It appears that there may be something building to the south of me (over the Worksop/Mansfield area) as theres been a little bit of convection going on in that direction.
