World's Worst Storms

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm a researcher working on a series for prime time UK TV. We're looking for video clips and stories of amazing severe weather, anywhere in the world, and this forum seemed like the perfect place to ask.

If you've been involved in any bizarre or particularly noteworthy weather please get in touch - we need real people's stories and footage to illustrate how dramatic and unpredictable weather can be. If you have captured your experience, or know of someone who has, then I want to hear from you!

Apologies for using my first post to appeal for advice, but I’d love to have a chat with anyone who is interested. Either post back on this website or drop me a private email.

My email: slightfoot@mentorn.tv and phone number 0207 258 6785

Thanks,

Sophia

Hi Sophia and welcome. :)

There are many of us here on the forum who have experienced some severe storms in our lifetime.

Hopefully a few members will get in touch shortly with you .

Jane

Owww nice. Will look forward to watching that when it's complete! I don't have any really interesting storms of note or anecdotes. Jane Louise can contribute her tales of the place in the UK with the least amount of thunderstorms?????

The Gap storm in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia) is a very noteworthy storm.

Two of a number of YouTube videos of it (one of them is titled as a 'cyclone' but it wasn't, it was a microburst):

(the first 1 minute or so is relatively tame compared to the rest of it!)

(a small collection of news reports on the microburst)

Bureau of Meteorology report about that storm (which confirms it was a microburst):

That's one of the first that springs to mind, I'll see if I dig up some others.

Thanks very much for your warm welcome everyone. Your help is very much appreciated!

NthNSW - the Brisbane storm looks like a really interesting one. I'm guessing that the first video was one you've sourced from youtube rather than one you've filmed yourself? It's very dramatic looking regardless - definitely one for me to look into further.

Yes you're correct, the video is not mine. It belongs to another person who has uploaded it onto YouTube. :)
