Just had a dusting here so far...Daventry snow shield holding its own unfortunately, not rating my chances of having a snow day tomorrow :(

You got it much better down there than here. It's falling pretty heavy but only tiny flakes, so it's doing little more than a good dusting.

In fact its just crappy graupel particles now.

Heavy snow over here as well

Stuck in one of those precipitation-free zones at the moment according to the radar. May possibly get something from the area of precipitation to the East if the band starts moving South-Westwards, otherwise likely to probably stay dry.

welll its been snowing in northampton for the past 2 hours. quite heavy for an hour or so but easing off now. probably another 5cm so far on top of the existing snow from the weekend. don't know whether thats it for the night now or whether we are due another heavy burst?

You got 5cm in Northampton ? what the !!! Your just getting the stuff that is coming south over Leicester, yet we only have these really tiny particles of snow that would take about 12hours to amount to 1cm.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but a tweet from Chris Fawkes suggests it may be game over for us in the west -- though not for lucky easteners:

"looks like the east midlands will get 5cm+, can't see much for the west midlands"

You know what? That pivot to the west is looking quite marked all of a sudden. It's too late to benefit here...still a non event for me I reckon. However, somewhere like Gloucester might be able to get in on some snow.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
