Morning all. A very cold start, currently -8C, which is the coldest temperature recorded here since December 2010.

Temperature: -8C
Pressure: 1040mb
Humidity: 96%
Dewpoint: -8.5C
No wind.
March and April 2011 combined only gave 3.8mm of rainfall. Truly exceptional.

Clear and bone-chilling cold to the start the day. Currently -6.3c after a low of -7.5c.

Bitterly cold here current temperature -6.8c, snowing and this comes off an overnight low of -8, yesterday didn't get above -2.

a touch colder than the previous night, at -5.4C, itself the coldest since Boxing Day 2010, no cloud other than the odd patch of Ci starting to appear and no wind; currently -2.3C, a very long time since it was that low at 9.30 in the morning.

Even colder than the night before last. Currently clear, -4.7 after an overnight minimum here of -8.0 (-8.8 at Reading University). The second lowest temperature here in 10 years. Looks like Benson's the front runner for coldest last night at -11.
Celestial object of the season: M64, the 'Black Eye' galaxy in the constellation of Coma Berenices. High in the south on spring nights and visible with amateur telescopes against a dark sky.
In 2012 so far: maximum 27.2, minimum -9.6, days with falling snow 5, days with lying snow 5, days with thunder 2.
Last year: maximum 29.6, minimum -2.8, days with falling snow 1, no days with lying snow, days with thunder 5.
Since June 2002: hottest day 35.0 (10/8/03), coldest day -1.9 (3/12/10), warmest night 20.3 (20/7/06), coldest night -9.6 (11/2/12).

Another member mentioned this last night I think, but the Rhone Valley in France is really being hit hard by this cold spell. Orange, which is not that far from Marseille is currently -6C with a 38mph wind from the north! It sounds a much colder than normal Mistral. Now that's a serious windchill!
