Feb 1983 proof if ever needed a very mild Jan can't be preceded by a cold February. I suspect 1956 saw quite a difference between Jan and Feb as well.

Based on the fact that mild Januarys similar to this one are hardly ever followed by cold Februarys, my guess for Feb 2012 is :

4.4

If we get this block, in place, I reckon a severe cold month. My punt is -0.8c please. I may have to revise if the models back track, but we all know tomorrow is the decider with the undercutting. Once we get that or if we do(looks very likely), we could be in for some very severe weather down the line.

Maybe so but you do realize that you have forecast the coldest February on record?

A fairly cold month but little in the way of outlandish cold. i'll go with 3.0C with a couple of close but not quite cold shots.

I reckon 12.5c, judging by the winter so far. It has been ridiculously mild and there is no evidence to suggest February will be any different. Now if I had my way, the CET for Feb would be -5c, but we live in mild and murky ol britannia and we are never going to get cold like that... unless a new ice age happens.

Lol!

My 2.8c may be on the high side- but I will remain with my guess like every month.

I'm going for 5.1C Not convinced that we will see that much in the way of cold weather.
