Surprised no one has started this yet; well I'm going against my winter forecast prediction as I expect the colder weather to set in later than I expected.

3.8c for me. I think the 81-10 average is 4.4c, but I think that that may need clarification.
Hoping for a future in meteorology!

I will leave it to the last minute, i will probably go against my winter prediction of 3.3 as well, i dont like to do a laminate floori / corbyn special but equally i dont want to do a madden special and be delusional either, i need more MO yet and dont forget its worth waiting because there is another ECM 32 dayer before then as well.

LOL i was just using someones name and i got swear filtered!

I'm going for 3.6C.
2010/2011: Amazing with 30 days of falling snow, more than 50 days of lying snow and a white Christmas plus a Big Freeze December.

2011/2012: Satisfactory with 20 days of falling snow, 10 days of lying snow and a good December for snow.

I think we'll all know what you're going for. I'm hoping that we have some nice seasonal cold and snow in January to put back your summer charts until we all want sunshine and warmth once it's summertime. It would be a shame to use up all our warmth in winter with the cold and snow lovers being driven mad and to end up having a miserable, cool, wet, windy summer.

would be up with the mildest Jans of all time, but I suspect that the 2 forecasts are fairly contradictory. There will be those with much better knowledge of these things than me, but wouldn't such a high CET in January necessitate a continuous push of mild maritime flows which is also likely to contain lots of unsettled low pressure systems with accompanying rain.

I also believe that after the warmest Jan CET on record, there was a freeze from mid Feb to mid March, so plenty of time to enjoy winter.

I'll put in my punt a bit nearer the New Year.

1.9C.
Mild(ish) start with infrequent incursions from the NW, followed by a month of prolonged Northerlies with milder interludes.

Overall, well below average, especially after mid-month. This month is one to watch. :winky:

FYI - Arjan, you've created 2 topics for this. :p

I forsee a mild start with cool/cold zonality becoming the theme by mid-month, with a more prolonged outbreak of cold in the last third of the month. 2.4C please.
March and April 2011 combined only gave 3.8mm of rainfall. Truly exceptional.
