Frequent heavy showers here at the moment. Temp 6.8C with NNW wind 18mph gusting 36. Should decrease as the day goes on, hopefully, as I've got to venture out.

It clouded over by about 0300 with very very light rain showers now and then after a white frost before midnight, temperatture is now 3.1C from the low of 0.4C

Clear spells developed overnight and the temperature fell to –1.7c so a widespread slight frost. Cloud increased and so did a north west wind around 05:00 GMT and the frost slowly began to lift.

Today's readings for the 24 hrs up to 09:00 GMT:

Yesterday:

Cloudy overnight after an initial clear start with a touch of ground frost. Only a few light spots of rain and sleet, as only a trace left in the rain gauge. Low 1.4c with –0.5c on the grass. The morning to observation has been overcast with a just a few spots of light sleet. The day stayed mainly cloudy scattered mainly light showers of rain and sleet, it felt cold and raw in the fresh NW wind, top temperature 2.9c.

A few light snow showers early yesterday evening, accompanied by a rise in temperature to 1.3c, this being the 24 hr max. The cloud cleared by 2130 and it remained mainly clear until around 0430 when further showers of wet snow and sleet moved in from the north west resulting in a thin veneer of slushy ice over most surfaces and rendering untreated roads lethal.
Current temp' is 0.9c after a min' of -0.4c and a grass min' of -3.5c
Rainfall in 24 hrs ending 0900, 0.8 mm
Mean wind speed, 13 mph W/NW
7 oktas Cu and St fractus
Occasional light showers of sleet or wet snow
Vis', 25 km
Patchy lying snow but well under 50% cover.
Patiently awaiting the return of the Younger Dryas.

Outbreaks of sleet here all morning here with the temperature hovering between 2 and 3C.

Winter 2011-12:
04 Dec, Brief wet snow shower in the evening.
16-17 Dec, Outbreaks of wet snow and sleet.
18 Dec, Heavy snow from 8.30am, stopped at 9.30 but gave a 2cm covering, thawed after lunch.
02 Feb, Light snow showers in the morning, no lying snow.
04 Feb, Light snow beginning around 2:30pm, becoming heavy and settling eventually. Non-stop until midnight, with 9cm depth.
05 Feb, Lying snow of 9cm, slow thaw starting eventually with high temperature of 2.0c.
06 Feb, Patches of snow and slushy snow on roads, rapid thaw underway.
09 Feb, Light snow on-and-off from 6pm, giving a light covering on top of leftovers. Eventually turning to freezing rain later in the evening.
10 Feb, Dusting of snow from flurries overnight.
18 Feb, Sleet showers in the evening.
04 Apr, A return to winter with snow showers all morning.

after a slow thaw of yesterday's snow heavy snow is now falling again. Two days of 100% snow cover at 9am. better than what I expected so far this year

Temp -0.4'c and falling here, brief now shower around 12.30pm but that's now dissipated off to the south. 1006mb, total rainfall this month 112mm (+1mm of snow melt.)

Icy and lethal on the roads with a covering of snow/ice.
Today a mix of light drizzle/sleet and heavier snow shower`s nothing settled.
Max of 3.4c currently 2.2c

A few light showers of sleet and wet snow to start the morning but it became dry after 0930 with a few sunny intervals.
Further snow showers, some briefly heavy, moved down from the north west early this afternoon and gave a thin snow cover by 1330 which then lasted for the rest of the day.

Reached 2.1º earlier after dropping to -3.2º last night. with some brief snow showers this morning. Now back down to -1.8º.

Clear/ sunny intervals and occasional hail, rain and sleet showers last night and all today, these heavy at times, and giving very temporary coverings of hailstones. Slight frost last night.
Fresh to strong NW wind and the quite a wind-chill.

Min: -0.7c @ midnight
Max: 6.9c @ 1300
Rain yesterday: 6.9mm
Rain since 0900: 5mm

Currently: More wintry showers.
Temp: 2.1c
