Kildare, in the east of Ireland here. Its been Snowing here on and off since i got up at 6:30 and has been really coming down the last half hour. Its sticking to most surfaces but will melt away once it stops. Its been a long time since I've seen snow like this or of any kind from a westerly air flow, especially this persistent and heavy. I'd say you would have to go back over 20 years for something like this, an 80's phenomenon if you will. We got a foot and a half from the easterly here last year which again was a 20 year gap going back to Feb 91....I have a feeling about January this year....damn! Jinxed it! Lashing out now!

Strong winds and a squall line at 1-2am at Cleadon, with a max of 7.6C just before the squall line hit. Clear intervals and blustery showers thereafter, with some sleet mixed in with the heavier showers, and the showers have had a surprising amount of "staying power" after crossing the Pennines. A minimum of 2.9C just after 7am, and currently 4.8C after a maximum of 5.6C earlier.
