What's your favourite piece of classical music?
Difficult one to chose but when I was young I remember watching Tony Hart drawing a picture of a sad clown and this music was playing in the background, Erik Satie's Gymnopedie number 1. A sad gentle piece.

Probably this. A friend showed me it and I was blown away by it. I also like the version used in the film 'there will be blood' fits nicely.

Shostakovich Quartet No. 8 I and II

I just love the build up to the sudden change and split personality of these pieces

Where to start? Tchaikovsky symphony no 5, violin concerto, Piano concerto no 1. Sibelius Violin concerto, Finlandia, Rachmaninov, Piano concerto no 2, symphony no 3, Brahms, symphony no 2. I could go on.
If I had to pick one, it would be one of the Tchaikovsky pieces, but which one depends on how I feel.
