Well done Aaron. :good:

Notice the ice build up in the Norwegian Sea (?)

There is no way this February is going to be mild from here on in, I would go as far to say it COULD be a record breakingly cold one for us.

Regards

Formally STORMBOY, come visit my Blog http://naturestimeline.wordpress.com/ and you'll learn more about this slightly eccentric anorak, who goes by the name of Tony!

For those that may be interested, I have a weather station that can viewed via the above link or directly via Weather Underground at http://www.wundergro...ation=IWESTBER2

Finally, if I may quote Mr. Data.

"Wasn't it enough that we lived through the coldest December for over 100 years that no one alive has experienced?"

No ice in the Norwegian Sea I'm afraid, maybe you're referring to the Arctic Sea?

Thanks Aaron and Polar.

With the cold weather set to persist in Europe, we could see a fairly rapid freezing up of the Baltic. I would imagine that there is a negative ice anomoly in the area north east of Scandinavia, but maybe the Gulf Stream keeps it like this most years.

North east of Scandi is the Barents and Kara seas. They've had southerly and southwesterly winds for much of the winter so they way behind average ice wise.
Lots more than normal around the Bering sea though.

Proof how cold the northern hemisphere is still in April.

It isn't usually until May when we start to see the arctic pack ice break up and snow cover in northern scandi/russia and central/north canada.

It will be interesting to see what the map looks like in a months time.
