So who is your favourite local TV weather girl or fella? Who communicates the weather best for you, or who is the snappiest dresser?

Who actually gets the forecasts right some or most of the time?!

Of course no mention of my local TV weather presenters would be complete without the vivacious Kaddy Lee_Preston She must be on some energy drink overdose!!!

Richard Angwin left BBC Points West 2 months ago and it seems there were 2 options for his replacement as the most
regular forecaster : Ian Fergusson (a NW member) and Jemma Cooper.

Thankfully from my perspective Ian, who has far more knowledge and enthusiasm for all sorts of weather, does the majority
of the lunchtime and evening forecasts while Jemma with her 'bits of this and bits of that' largely does the Breakfast tv
ones.

Until his retirement in 2008, the answer (ITV's Bob Johnson) would have been very easy. He was one of the few professional meteorologists employed by ITV and he had his own quirky style of presenting weather forecasts, including the generous use of Scottish terms like "driech" and some inventions of his own like "skitey bits". He also used to deliberately choose the names of towns on the map to make up anagrams.

Haven't watched many local North East broadcasts recently but Paul Mooney and Hannah Bayman (both of whom I've seen present forecasts) are pretty good and both have a strong background in meteorology.

Being an East Anglian, Jim Bacon and my namesake from WeatherQuest get my vote. Both are proper meteorologists and explain things clearly, concisely, and without flim-flam.
"In general it's much more difficult for us to do extremes, so whilst many of us love them and crave them, we should perhaps leant to lower our expectation levels and try to enjoy the weather we do get. It maybe difficult for some to accept this fact and to be honest I understand why, but having lived in one of the hottest parts of the world for many years I can assure you there are many millions of people that would give their right arm for our gentle, forgiving climate - we are actually very lucky in the grand scheme of things." -

Coast we have to be careful or our 'Most Active In' Weather Girls!

Oh hold on you did not name the thread Weather Girls you wimped out and went for the more politically correct option.

Lets hope the girls get involved and post up some of their pin ups we don't want this all one sided, we will be accused of something....

Agreed - I've met Jim Bacon and he is a a most excellent person who has a deep knowledge of Meteorology backed by 40 years of experience,

Chris Bell's Texan accent is also an exotic bonus in any forecast

Gotta say though the 'new' regular Look East weather girl (Alex Dolan) is too skinny for my taste...

Agreed on all counts - plus Ms. Dolan is too hesitant for my liking - too many "er's" and she seems to lose her thread too often.

Her appearance makes me positive from the weather forecast whatever the weather forecast says.
