Just getting some rain here now too and the wind has got very gusty.

Looks dark to the south of me, any rain will be welcome even without thunder as it's sooooo bloody hot here still!

Funny to see people writing it off because the sky is clearing (Bristol based poster on the other thread). The Cold Front still has to cross

our region and while it does so anything can still spark into life. Yes the local BBC forecast seemed to suggest nothing would happen, but the

Cold Front is there to move through and the humid, high dewpoint air is in place.

Very interesting mid-level turreted Cumulus/Castellenus moving SSW-NNE at the moment, I'm not giving up until the fresher air arrives after the

front! Also, as the sun sets existing cloud tops will cool and that can lead to rapid development.

Edit : of note to me is how quickly the showers are moving.

At least the temperatures are holding which shows this cloud is from a continental airmass, 22C with high humidity, good for storms at least.

Storm that moved north east from Shrewsbury looked a dead cert to hit here.....but no, skirted around 6 miles to the west and headed off up towards south Manchester where storms seem to be about 10 times more frequent than here. A frustrating day.

Further to my post a few mins ago - showers are definitely continually forming in Cornwall along the Cold Front.
