Glastonbury (23Rd June Update)

Unfortunately it does seem that it has already turned rather muddy at Glastonbury this year, so no real point in doing another mud rating.

However I will a do a summary of the likely weather for the remaining 3 days.

Friday

A ridge of High Pressure will push in from the SW, (pressure 1025mb) for southern parts of the UK, however this will be quickly followed by cloud and rain spreading in from the South West. Over the past week, there was also a battle as to whether the High would win out, unfortunately the worse case scenario has won out. It will be dry for much of Friday daytime with Maximum Temps 16-1. The rain spreading in around mid evening, and probably lasting until mid morning Saturday. however there are doubts as to intensity of the rain, NMM has also 2-3mm of rain For Glastonbury until midnight Friday, with the majority of the rain further north. However NAE has closer to 10-14mm of rain for Glastonbury. Obviously this can and will make a big difference to conditions there.

Saturday

The Low Pressure from yesterday will continue to move NE over the UK. It definitely seems to be a getting better sort of day, with drier weather spreading in from the South West. There is better agreement now the Saturday should turn dry quite quickly and the afternoon should be dry. A rather cloudy start to Saturday but steadily brightening up in the afternoon, with with Tropical Maritime air from the South West, it should warm up nicely with GFS suggesting temps 20 or 21c by mid afternoon.

Sunday

Sunday sees the High pressure over Southern areas move away to the east, but also with the Low Pressure also pushing away to the north. This allows very warm air to push in from the South. (850Hpa 13-14c). It should therefore but a warm warm or hot day with temps in the mid twenties, perhaps evening hitting 24-25c. It should also be sunny and it should remain shower free for Glastonbury.

Summary

Warming up nicely over the weekend with some warm or hot sunshine, but the damage to a certain extent has been done, especially if Friday Night is as wet as suggested by NAE.
