UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 Nov 2010 to Thursday 18 Nov 2010:
Sunshine and showers for most of the UK on Tuesday, then the unsettled theme is set to continue through to the end of the outlook period. Showers and longer spells of rain are likely with the rain prolonged and heavy at times. Mountain snow is also likely over the high ground in Scotland. Some dry and bright interludes are likely in between the rain, especially in the south and east towards the end of next week. Winds are likely to be strong at times with the risk of gales, these often being limited to exposed areas but perhaps isolated cases of severe gales in the northwest. Temperatures are expected to be near to normal but it will feel cold in the wind and rain.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 Nov 2010 to Friday 19 Nov 2010:
Cold northerly winds will bring sunny spells with some showers on Wednesday, especially over eastern areas and probably turning wintry on hills in the north. Rain then spreads from the west later on Thursday with some hill snow possible in Scotland. During next weekend low pressure systems will move east bringing rain or showers, especially over northwestern UK, but with some drier and clearer spells between. The start of the following week is likely to see a brief interlude of drier weather before a return to rain and showers from the west. It will be generally windy throughout, especially as low pressure systems pass close to the UK. Temperatures start cold, especially in the north, and then recover to nearer normal later in the period, especially in the south.

UK Outlook for Thursday 11 Nov 2010 to Saturday 20 Nov 2010:
Rain will spread from the west during Thursday with some hill snow possible in Scotland. Further rain and showers affecting most parts during Friday then remaining unsettled into next weekend with rain or showers in most areas again but with some drier and clearer spells between. Some of this precipitation may turn to snow over northern hills. Staying unsettled the following week with any drier weather most likely in the south and east. It will be generally windy throughout, especially as low pressure systems pass close to the UK. Temperatures start cold, especially in the north, and then recover to nearer normal. Later in the period there is an increasing tendency towards night frosts and the south could feel mild in any sunshine.

Remaining predominantly unsettled and windy with showers or longer spells of rain, which are expected to be heavy at times. For Friday and Saturday, the heaviest rain is expected in western and north-western parts of the UK, with some eastern and northeastern parts remaining generally dry. Some of this precipitation may turn to snow over northern hills. Thereafter, staying unsettled, with any drier weather most likely in the south and east. It will be generally windy throughout, especially when low pressure systems pass close to the UK. Temperatures start near or just below normal, especially in the north where overnight frosts are likely, and then recover to nearer normal, with some milder interludes in the south. Much of the period is likely to remain relatively unsettled with showers or longer periods of rain. More persistent rain likely across northwestern parts where it is also likely to be heavy, particularly across west facing hills. Some of the rain is also likely to turn to snow over the higher ground of the north. Between any rain will be some drier and brighter interludes, with these most likely in the southeast. Towards the end of the period there is an increasing chance of more settled weather in the south of the UK, although the north is likely to remain unsettled. Windy throughout, with gales at times. Temperatures starting around average, but with an increasing trend towards lower temperatures, with a higher risk of overnight frost, particularly in the north.

Generally rather cloudy at first with some brightness, this mainly in the east of the UK. Rain is expected in northern and western parts of the UK at first, with strong southerly winds. This rain may spread further southeast at times but will tend to become less persistent. The far southeast of England should remain largely dry. From Friday (19th), conditions look like turning drier with some sunshine in many places, although outbreaks of rain may occasionally reach far western and southern parts of the UK. Mostly cold as winds become more easterly and brisk at times. Where winds fall light, there will be a risk of mist or fog patches developing, and frost becoming more widespread during overnight periods.

Many regions will be unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain for much of the ten day period. During the first few days western and southwestern parts can expect the worst of the unsettled weather with a risk of gales in the exposed far southwest. There is also a risk of gales in far northeastern parts. Conditions are expected to gradually turn less unsettled towards the end of the forecast period, especially in the North and West. Often feeling cold, temperatures generally below the mid to late November average throughout, and tending to turn even colder later with an increasing risk of frost. Some hill snow also likely during the period, mainly in the north, and as temperatures drop later some wintry weather may develop in other areas.

Unsettled across southern parts of the UK to start, with outbreaks of rain and strong winds at times. More settled in the north, but with showers at times, these wintry over the hills. Into the new week northeasterly winds will become prevalent. This will lead to a downward trend in temperatures across the UK with overnight frosts becoming more frequent and northern parts in particular becoming cold. Showers are likely at times, particularly across northern and eastern parts. These will be wintry over high ground, especially in the north, with an increasing chance of some snow to lower levels too. Best of any drier and brighter weather likely across southern and western parts of the UK.

The first part of next week will be unsettled with further rain or showers, especially in the south, east and northeast. Brighter weather at times in the west.
