UK Outlook for Friday 11 May 2012 to Sunday 20 May 2012:

Starting unsettled in southern areas with further rain likely, but somewhat brighter in the north, if with a few showers. During the first part of next weekend the brighter weather spreads south and east to all areas, but at the same time cloudier and wetter conditions move into the northwest. Temperature will tend to be below normal in the north, but around normal or above in the south. During the rest of the weekend and the first part of next week, the weather become predominately more westerly, with periods of cloud and rain interspersed with drier and clearer spells, which could allow some frosts overnight. The last half of next week and the second weekend sees an increasing chance of more settled weather, with temperatures around normal.

UK Outlook for Saturday 12 May 2012 to Monday 21 May 2012:

Next weekend is likely to bring a respite from the recent unsettled conditions. Saturday and Sunday should be mostly dry and bright with sunny spells and just a scattering of light showers, mainly towards northeastern areas. Temperatures will be around or just below average with a risk of overnight frosts in central and northern areas. However, it should feel pleasant in the afternoon sunshine, especially given mostly light winds. Later on Sunday, it is likely to become windier with some rain across northwestern UK. These more unsettled conditions look like becoming established across most of the country by early next week, and persisting into the following week. The mainly westerly winds will bring periods of rain interspersed with drier and clearer spells, which could allow some overnight frosts at first.

UK Outlook for Sunday 13 May 2012 to Tuesday 22 May 2012:

England and Wales should be mostly dry with sunny spells on Sunday, although with freshening southwesterly winds, especially across northern areas. Northern Britain becoming more unsettled with outbreaks of rain towards the northwest spreading south across most of Northern Ireland and Scotland by the evening. Becoming very windy here with gales possible towards northwestern coasts. The rain continuing south across England and Wales on Monday, with sunny/clear spells and blustery showers following, these heaviest and most frequent towards northern and western areas. Unsettled conditions are then likely to persist for much of the period, with periods of rain interspersed with drier and clearer spells. The showers will be heavy and thundery at times, particularly during the afternoons. Generally rather cool and breezy, but feeling pleasantly warm in shelter and sunshine.

UK Outlook for Monday 14 May 2012 to Wednesday 23 May 2012:

The weather is likely to turn more unsettled again by Monday, with strong winds and outbreaks of rain sweeping across most parts of the UK. It is then likely to remain unsettled for much of the rest of the period. As a result most areas will see showers and longer periods of rain interspersed with drier and clearer spells. There is a chance of some heavy rain at times, the highest risk being over northern and western parts of the country. With winds mainly from the west or northwest, temperatures will probably be average or a little below for the time of year but there is a chance of some warmer spells, most likely in the south of the UK.

"With winds mainly from the west or northwest, temperatures will probably be average or a little below for the time of year but there is a chance of some warmer spells, most likely in the south of the UK."
Good to hear this ... the 'chance of some warmer spells to the south' might be the early foundations to the possible late May/June warmth.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 15 May 2012 to Thursday 24 May 2012:

Tuesday will be a chilly day of sunshine and showers, and perhaps some more persistent rain in the far south and southeast at first. It is then likely to remain unsettled for much of the rest of the period. As a result most areas will see showers and longer periods of rain interspersed with drier and clearer spells. There is a chance of some heavy rain at times, the highest risk being over northern and western parts of the country. With winds mainly from the west or northwest, temperatures will probably be a little below average for the time of year at first. They may recover to nearer normal later in the month when there is a chance of some warmer spells.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 16 May 2012 to Friday 25 May 2012:

This period will see a mixture of clear or sunny spells and showers for most, these showers wintry over high ground in the north. The heaviest showers are likely during the afternoons, possibly accompanied by thunder. There is a risk of showers merging into more prolonged spells of rain at times, initially most likely towards the south and west of the UK, but more generally by the weekend. It will be generally rather cold, initially accentuated in the northeast by brisk winds. Overnight ground frosts remain possible in clearer spells, especially in northern parts. Later in May, it should remain unsettled with further showers and longer spells of rain. Some drier and brighter interludes remain possible, especially towards the south and east later, with temperatures gradually recovering to nearer average.

UK Outlook for Thursday 17 May 2012 to Saturday 26 May 2012:

Unsettled weather looks to continue for most of the UK, with persistent rain spreading to most parts during Thursday and Friday with a chance of hill-snow in the north. The best chance of seeing drier, sunnier weather during this period will be towards the south of the UK, albeit with a few showers around. This persistent rain will eventually sink southwards during the weekend, with clearer, showery conditions following into the north coupled with a cool northeasterly wind. Overnight ground frosts remain possible in clearer spells, especially across rural northern parts after persistent rain has cleared. The following week should remain unsettled for most areas, with a mixture of sunshine, showers or longer spells of rain, and temperatures generally a little below normal for most parts.

UK Outlook for Friday 18 May 2012 to Sunday 27 May 2012:

Unsettled weather looks set to continue, with outbreaks of rain or showers. It is likely to be largely cloudy at first, with southern parts of the UK perhaps seeing the heaviest rain, and a risk of some thunder and lightning over the first weekend. The risk of snow over northern hills continues. Some drier spells are possible too, particularly across the north into the following week. Thereafter, there is a chance of some drier weather at times across the UK, however outbreaks of rain and showers are still likely to affect most areas. Temperatures are expected to remain below normal for the time of year, with a risk of a grass frost in drier spells, particularly in the north, perhaps increasing to nearer normal towards the end of the period.

UK Outlook for Monday 21 May 2012 to Wednesday 30 May 2012:

The new week should start rather cold for the time of year, but fine and dry with some sunshine across northern parts of the UK, mainly Scotland and Northern Ireland. Further south, more unsettled at first with showers or longer spells of rain, these perhaps thundery near the southeast, and quite breezy. Towards the end of the week, the drier, finer weather should transfer to more southern and eastern parts, with a chance of some cloudier conditions and rain returning to western parts. Temperatures by this time should be close to average, but to begin with, a little below average around the southeast. Probably staying similar for the rest of the period, with a chance of rain in the west, drier conditions in the east, and average temperatures prevailing.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 22 May 2012 to Thursday 31 May 2012:

Southeastern areas are likely to be rather cloudy at first with outbreaks of rain, these possibly heavy and thundery. It should be mostly fine and dry elsewhere. Rain will probably clear southern and eastern areas by the second half of next week, with much of the UK seeing some good sunny spells for a time. However, cloud and rain is likely to spread northeastwards into England and Wales later next week and the most likely scenario is for unsettled conditions to persist in these areas for the rest of the month. Other areas are more likely to see more settled, sunnier weather continuing. Temperatures will be below average at first but will probably recover to nearer normal, and may become locally warm during the second half of next week.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 23 May 2012 to Friday 1 Jun 2012:

By the middle of next week much of the UK is likely to be dry with some sunshine, although eastern and southeastern areas may well be cloudy with outbreaks of rain at first. These mainly settled conditions seem likely to continue for the rest of May and into the start of June with a good deal of dry sunny weather likely. There are some indications that cloud and rain could spread into some western and southwestern areas towards the end of the month though. Temperatures look likely to be above average or warm in most places, and may become very warm locally. Eastern coasts may remain relatively cool though where easterly or northeasterly winds persist.

UK Outlook for Thursday 24 May 2012 to Saturday 2 Jun 2012:

Much of the UK is likely to be largely dry and settled throughout this period, with clear or sunny spells expected in most areas. Central and eastern parts may well see overnight mist and low cloud, particularly early in the period, and this may linger on some North Sea coasts for much of the day at first. Southwestern parts of the UK are the most likely to see rain at times, perhaps heavy or thundery in places, but even here there should also be a good deal of dry weather. Temperatures are likely to be above average in most places, locally very warm in central and southern areas of Britain, but eastern coasts may remain relatively cool where easterly or northeasterly winds and low cloud persist.

Much of the UK is likely to start the period largely dry and settled, with clear or sunny spells expected in most areas, although eastern coastal districts may stay fairly cloudy.
