UK Outlook for Wednesday 16 May 2012 to Wednesday 30 May 2012:

Overall there are no strong signals favouring any particular weather type during this period. Total rainfall and cloud amounts during the two weeks are a little more likely to be above average than below average, whilst mean temperatures are more likely to be below average than above average. The balance of evidence does also hint that if we do get a spell of relatively warm, dry weather this is a little more likely to come in the second half of the 15-day period.

I wonder what caused the fairly major shift today from the last few days outputs?

It could along with of model's be to do with the EC 32 day model, Matt Hugo tweeted this, this morning

Latest EC 32 paints a cool & unsettled 3 weeks of May, before pressure builds during the final week of month - Overall it doesn't look good

Maybe some of the ofther longer range models are hinting at somthing warmer as we get near to summer

I still find it rather odd that, if it is based on just one output from the ECMWF 32 day outlook, they have made such a shift in emphasis. Just wish I still had access to the mutterings of the senior man 2x daily as I used to have.

Translated this means they haven't a clue. ECM has shifted a bit and we don't access to the 32 bit modelwhich must have shifted a lot more. I suppose they're not allowed to say the latest model run shows no firm direction of the weather maybe.

Perhaps the senior man actually said "Doh"
