METO UK Further Outlook 16 Day To 30 Forecast

Posted 15 April 2010 - 12:17
Staying unsettled for most areas, especially in the north and west, with rain or showers. The driest weather is most likely in southern parts, especially the southeast. However, there should be some good spells of sunshine in between the rain or showers, particularly in the south and east. Temperatures in the north are likely to be generally below average for the time of year, cold enough for snow at times over higher ground, but closer to normal, occasionally warm, in the south. Winds, often strong on windward coasts, but lighter inland. There is a risk of overnight frosts for some more sheltered parts, particularly in the north.

For this period there is likely to be a gradual change from the recent colder than average northerly or northeasterly type to a less cold, but mostly cyclonic type. Temperatures are expected to be near to a little below average, with winds often light and variable in direction. Although there will no doubt be some drier interludes, this indicates the liklihood of above average rainfall totals during the period for Scotland, southwest and eastern England, and generally average rainfall in other areas. Sunshine may well be below average in the north and east of Britain, and near average elsewhere.

For this period there is likely to be a gradual change from the recent colder than average northwesterly conditions to a less cold, but still rather unsettled westerly weather type. Temperatures are expected to be near to below average for much of the time, with little hint of any prolonged warmer spells at the moment, however winds are not expected to be particularly strong. There are indications of above average rainfall amounts during the period, firstly over parts of northern UK, later the south appears to be wettest, with generally close to average rainfall at other times. Average sunshine amounts are expected during the period.
