I will go for 5.1c slightly below the norm as I feel the last week of the month will see spring finally arrive, until then pretty cold I'm afraid.

My random guess earlier this year was 5.6C, and it still looks plausible, so 5.6C for now, pending revisions nearer the time. I doubt that there will be the much sought-after switch flick to homogeneous warmth like we had in mid February last year- I expect spring to arrive in fits and bursts, and maybe the unusually wintry weather of 2009/10 could throw up some more surprises during March.

10c?! You are having a giraffe surely?

And how on Earth will it be 14 in a row, 2006 had the coldest start to Spring in 30 years or something like that.

A cold unsettled first week. Becoming more settled and gradually warming up in the middle. Staying mild and unsettled for the final weeks. Maybe a brief easterly later on.

6.7c sounds about right.

I think I'll go with 4.9C for now, I think the first half of the month will be influenced by the MMW that occurred recently so the blocking to the North to remain. But like others, awaiting GPs thoughts.

Hmmm, can we make it four months well below average in a row? I'm a bit sceptical, though I think a bit below average is possible, but what happens to whatever high pressure ridge forms over us in the first week (if indeed it does) will make a big difference. I suspect that maybe it will sink within a few days with the PV reforming fairly quickly, so on that basis I'm going for a 5.5C as there are bound to be a few northerly incursions.
I survived the coldest winter since '63, and almost the coldest in 100 years.

I think it will remain cool for a while yet - so let's try 5.3C.
