I survived the coldest winter since '63, and almost the coldest in 100 years.

A very mild and wet first half - More flooding potential unfortunately. Sometime after mid month pressure rising across Scandinavia which could well bring some exceptionally mild southerlies wafting up across the country. Turning drier. Christmas may turn colder with continental air bringing frosts, but it'll be between Christmas and New Year that I think we could get a blast of easterlies with the risk of snow and severe frosts giving a white end to 2009.

I'm going for 5.4 degrees, however, this will mask a difference between north and south, the north will see a slightly below average dec, whereas the south perhaps 0.5-1 degree above.

I'd go for 5.8C but there is a chance that we come in decently below that number, I suspect the blocking to the east will be very stubborn indeed to shift but for now I think we will be just on thye wrong side of it all.

Mean winds could be anything between a SW flow and a SE, but either way I suspect quite a southerly December, exactly from what angle though could make as much as 4C difference to the CET over the month.

Some cold weather to start with but I don't think it'll last. 6.1.
Celestial object of the season: The 'Rosette' planetary nebular in the constellation of Monoceros. Difficult to find in the south on winter nights but has reputedly been seen with amateur telescopes on nights with a very dark sky.
In 2012 so far: maximum 13.4, minimum -8.0, no thunder or snow recorded yet.
Last year: maximum 29.6, minimum -2.8, days with thunder 5, days with falling snow 1, no days with lying snow.
Since June 2002: hottest day 35.0 (10/8/03), coldest day -1.9 (3/12/10), warmest night 20.3 (20/7/06), coldest night -9.4 (20/12/10).

The average december of the 80`s was 5.1c and thats including the coldest december since before 1900.
The 00 average is lower at 4.9c
I`m going for 3.9c, 0.4c higher to last years.
305 metres about sea level.
