Hi all!

Welcome to the results thread where you can find out how well you have (or haven't) been doing!

The first week threw up some rather surprising results, and they were as follows:

Saturday 15th August 2009:
Chelsea 2-1 Hull - 12:45pm
Aston Villa 0-2 Wigan - 15:00
Blackburn 0-2 Manchester City - 15:00
Bolton 0-1 Sunderland - 15:00
Portsmouth 0-1 Fulham - 15:00
Stoke 2-0 Burnley - 15:00
Wolves 0-2 West Ham - 15:00
Everton 1-6 Arsenal - 17:30

Sunday 16th August 2009:
Manchester United 1-0 Birmingham - 13:30
Tottenham 2-1 Liverpool - 16:00

(1 point awarded for getting the correct result, but not the scoreline
3 points awarded for getting the correct scoreline)

Bonus Questions -
1) How many goals will be scored by the AWAY teams listed above?

There were 16 goals scored by the AWAY teams. Only one person got this right - well done Higrade - 5 points coming your way!

2) How many yellow cards will be issued in the above matches?

There were 29 yellow cards in the above matches. No-one got this right - shame on us!

(5 points awarded for each correct answer)

So, taking all that into account, this is the league table after Week 1

1. ajpoolshark 13 points
2. Davehsug 12 points
3. Geordiesnow 10 points
4. Higrade 10 points
5. Flash Elvis 9 points
6. Koppite 9 points
7. Andy Bown 7 points
8. Chionomaniac 7 points
9. Icy toes 7 points
10. Stormchaser1 7 points
11. Timmy H 7 points
12. Windswept 7 points
13. Jackone 6 points
14. Phil UK 6 points
15. Sufc 6 points
16. Nick2702 5 points
17. Pinball Wizard 5 points
18. Barry 4 points
19. Paul B 4 points
20. Pete Tattum 3 points
21. Thundery Wintry Showers 3 points

So the early leader with a excellent weekly score of 13 is Ajpoolshark - excellent scoring! Davehsug is just behind with 12 and Geordiesnow makes 3rd place on 10 thanks to alapbetical order! Sorry Higrade! But you do have the consolation of being the only person to get a bonus question right this round and thus picking up those 5 bonus points!

Pete Tattum and Thundery Wintry Showers - don't worry, the only way is up, and there is a long, long way to go!

Thanks everyone for taking part this week, and please don't forget to enter the next round. Questions are already up, and the deadline is TUESDAY at 19:30, so be quick! Go to: http://www.netweathe...ost__p__1579412 to enter!

The results were as follows:

Tuesday 18th August 2009:
Sunderland 1-3 Chelsea - 19:45
Wigan 0-1 Wolves - 19:45

Wednesday 19th August 2009:
Birmingham 1-0 Portsmouth - 19:45

(1 point awarded for getting the correct result, but not the scoreline
3 points awarded for getting the correct scoreline)

Bonus Questions -
1) How many goals will be scored by the HOME teams listed above?

There were 8 goals scored by the home teams above. Sufc, Chionomaniac, Davehsug, Icy toes, Pete Tattum, Geordiesnow and Pinball Wizard all got this correct, and win 5 bonus points each!

2) How many corners will the AWAY teams have in the above matches?

The away teams had a whopping 46 corners in the above matches! No-one predicted this.

(5 points awarded for each correct answer)

So, taking all that into account, this is the league table after Week 2
(Your previous position in the table and your score for this week appear in brackets)

1. (2.) Davehsug 22 points (10 points scored this round)
2. (3.) Geordiesnow 19 points (9 points)
3. (15.) Sufc 17 points (11 points)
4. (8.) Chionomaniac 16 points (9 points)
5. (1.) Ajpoolshark 16 points (3 points)
6. (9.) Icy toes 15 points (8 points)
7. (5.) Flash Elvis 15 points (6 points)
8. (17.) Pinball Wizard 14 points (9 points)
9. (20.) Pete Tattum 12 points (9 points)
10. (12.) Windswept 11 points (4 points)
11. (6.) Koppite 11 points (2 points)
12. (4.) Higrade 11 points (1 point)
13. (13.) Jackone 10 points (4 points)
14. (19.) Paul B 9 points (5 points)
15. (16.) Nick2702 9 points (4 points)
16. (14.) Phil UK 9 points (3 points)
17. (10.) Stormchaser1 9 points (2 points)
18. (21.) Thundery Wintry Showers 7 points (4 points)
19. (7.) Andy Bown 7 points (no entry)
20. (11.) Timmy H 7 points (no entry)
21. (18.) Barry 5 points (1 point)

So the new leader with a excellent weekly score of 10 is Davehsug. Geordiesnow is now up into 2nd place on 19, whilst Sufc is the big climber, now sitting 3rd on 17 points!

Thanks everyone for taking part this week, and please don't forget to enter the next round. Questions are already up, and the deadline is SATURDAY at 14:45, so be quick! Go to: http://www.netweathe...ost__p__1580351 to enter!

16. (21.) Barry 17 points (12 points)
17. (18.) Thundery Wintry Showers 16 points (9 points)
18. (15.) Nick2702 15 points (6 points)
19. (13.) Jackone 15 points (5 points)
20. (16.) Phil UK 13 points (4 points)
21. (19.) Andy Bown 7 points (no entry - 2 double points weeks available)

Still at the top, the leader with 31 points is Davehsug. Geordiesnow is still in 2nd place on 26, whilst Sufc holds onto 3rd spot with 25 points! Timmy H made the most of his double points and soared from 20th place to 6th!

Hi Pete,

A "double-points week" is a week in which you can score double because you missed entering a round. So if you were away on holiday for example, you have two choices...you can PM me for the questions beforehand and submit them back to me by PM, or you can elect a week in which your score will be doubled (but you'd need to PM me your prefeered double points week otherwise I will just apply double points to the next week that you enter).

Hope that makes sense!

Any guess will do. :D

Theres one flaw i do have with double points and this post won't be popular with folk but people can deliberately miss a week and then claim double points and if they get a high score then they could actually get more points than they would normally would. Conversely if you try that and you get a low double point score you will slide down the table.

I just wonder, maybe onlu double points should be awarded if its proven you have not been on here for over a week as there is not really an excuse to predict is there? If you simply forgot then thats your fault imo.

Just a suggestion, Paul - why not have a 'Joker' system (like in Jeux Sans Frontier [sp?]), where everyone has one opportunity per season to claim double points?

If I forget to enter - tough poo?? :)

I think thats actually not a bad idea - it certainly a fair idea aswell so no one is gaining any advantage by claiming double points every week.

If someone enters half way through the season and are well behind from last place, then maybe let them have double points until they caught up to the last place person?

Just a thought.

If people prefer to just have one double points opportunity per season then thats fine with me. I think the idea that people will delibertly miss a week in order to then try and get double points every other week is probably a bit far fetched, and in all honesty I doubt they would make much, if any, gain. The idea of double points is to try and keep people interested really, as in my experience if someone misses a couple of weeks, they then give up altogether.

That was the intention of double points, giving the people the incentive to carry on if they missed a few weeks. Personally I'd keep it, but then I'm biased. :D

The idea to have a joker seems a good one, perhaps have 2 a season, to make 40 rounds of matches.

However I found that it can get too complicated, it took me longer to put all the tables together each week with the double points etc, than to score the matches.

It is a great competition whichever system is used. :)
