The big one again finished with a fine 3 nil away win for the Darts, lets hope and was a good game and that high pressure went along and saw it. HP if you got time prehaps you could give us (me really) your impressions?
For those of you who perhaps are unaware of Dartfords start to the season it is Played 9 won 8 drawn 1 with a goal difference of 26, i only wished my other team Charlton start was as impressive. Another bit of good news Berwick won tonight to go top of Scottish league 3, dont ask why but i have always looked for there results and every year i promise myself a trip up there, well i suppose i still got time, just realised it could be a hat trick of promotions, after the end of the long season however i would like to believe at least one of my teams will be promoted, but which one? or could it be more than one?

I was there and will give a little report tomorrow but I think I better sleep on it first in the meantime here are some photos from the game:

I particularly like photo 0510 seen as legal by the ref tonight?

Great photo's HP, in 510 i'm am sure the ref got it right as it looked to me he was just giving him a very friendly cuddle, surely there can't be anything wrong in that?

OK so I have slept and reflected on the game and hopefully can now be objective on the game and Dartford, as you can imagine I was a bit disappointed with the score line as it did not reflect the match. Two teams with opposing styles, Dartford with the strongest defence I have seen at this level for a while and its not hard to see why they have only conceded 4 in their 9 league games. Sutton with a very young pacey side with a 4-5-1 formation controlled the midfield in the first half and worked hard to create openings hitting the bar and seeing a couple of shots well saved. Dartford stood strong and had a 5 min spell themselves resulting in a header turned on to the bar. First half Sutton shaded and a similar pattern for the first 15mins of the second half, when the match turned on a long throw in (our Nemesis) not dealt with and eventually bundled over the line to put Darts 1 up. Then followed 5 mins which changed the game, first the Dartford no8 punches a Sutton player and receives only a yellow card and 2mins later our 18 yr old prodigy Stefan Payne is clear through on goal only for the linesman to flag a player running back because he thinks he is going for it and completely misses the deep run of Stefan who smashes the ball home only to see it chalked out. 2 mins later a dartford cross knee high across the 6 yard box is turned in by our own defender with no opposing player within 20yards of him, 2-0 game over. The 3rd goal came about 10 mins from the end when the ball was adjudged to have crossed the line but its one for goal line technology jobbies, keeper had it but it may of been over it might not of been photo's inclusive?

It was just one of those evenings for us we had to work very hard and all the 30-40yard passing came from us as did all the interplay yet we could not really break the Darts down who just stood strong and made some excellently timed tackles. Dartford going forward is not what you might expect from a side that have scored about 30 goals so far they are no Dover, its really just balls in the channels and lofted balls into the box, not pretty but then they did score 3 to our none.

I am sure that Dartford will win the league on their defensive strengths alone but I would expect the goal fest to slow slightly and they need to watch them yellow cards now 20 in 9 games. Suspensions could become a factor at some stage.

For our part we move on try and build on the positives of which there were a lot despite the harsh scoreline and try to make a push to secure a playoff spot. I have tried to be objective but I am still stuck on 60mins at 1-1 wit Darts down to 10 men :nonono:

Charlton, I have just seen that Nicky was involved in a spot of bother on Saturday at Norwich, he tends to that when he is not happy at a club and wants a move.

Thanks for the report High Pressure, sounds like Dartford where a lucky, this offside rule is a real bug bear at present, why oh why can't we go back to the good old days when if you where in an offside position you where offside as simple as that. It sounded from your excellent report that Dartford where playing the long ball game which surprised me as normally they are a fluent passing side, prehaps it a change in playing style made due to the pressures of trying to get promotion, which i know is there aim this year.

Re Nicky Bailey, i don't think he is looking for a move at present , i think he and other players where upset with the referee and Holt and he simply lashed out, what was interesting was to hear about the half time punch up in the tunnel between the two sides, something must have upset both teams as it is not either teams normal behaviour. could be interesting if the facts ever emerge.

I don't know if anyone else is reading this thread as it seems to be a 2 horse race

I can't say Dartford were lucky that sounds like sour grapes and you make your own luck etc, I would say we were unlucky to a point against a very strong side. Yes the Dartford side of last season passed the ball better and were more exciting to watch but no where near as strong at the back, and at this level if you don't concede you will get opportunities from the other sides mistakes.

As for NB just teasing as he normally picks on his own team mates when he wants to leave :p

Imust admit to feeling pretty lonely on the non league forum and i was thinking it was getting a bit boring with me keep chirping away about Dartford (so please if anybody else reads this feel free to add something (unless you are Northfleet supporter ophs sorry Ebbsfleet), perhaps it time to give it a break for a month or two. Sorry HP i omitted to put little in front of lucky in my post.
NB will be NB, but the thing i like about him is that he appears to be a bit of a character, i find characters are quickly disappearing from all sports which is a great pity where are the Nobby Stiles, Ian Bothams of this world?

Westbury United are going well this season.

So far 5 league games have been played and 13 points are on the board - the latest being a 5-0 win on Tuesday - and a decent run happening in the FA Vase where we play home vs Carterton in the 1st Round Proper on 3 Oct.

Is anybody else's team in the Vase next weekend?
11 May = the 1st completely dry day for 25 days!!

Andy, totally off subject, is Westbury near Andover as many moons ago an Uncle of mine built a house i believe on the outskirts (could have been a bungalow) called Ironbanks, from memory (nearly 40 years ago) it overlooked a famous fishing river can't remember the name and i have always promised to take my mother back there to see it before she dies (she 90 in February so i better hurry up). He built loads of house around there his name was Arthur (Cox?).

Sutton got back to winning ways after Tuesday defeat to Dartford to progress into the 3rd Qualifying round of the FA Cup with amore than comfortable 3-0 home win against Uxbridge. We look forward to Monday's draw and hopefully fate will not deal us an away tie to Dartford who also progressed with a 2-1 victory at Worthing!

Interesting commment on the Dartford website, they seemed more excited by the fact that the have won £4,500 prize money than remembering to give the score, although to be fair this has now been corrected, just shows at what ever level money counts more than anything else. Be nice if we can be kept apart HP so at least we can continue on with our comments in the FA cup.
Nicky Bailey scored one and made a great goal line clearance to maintain Charlton upbeaten run, just us and Leeds are unbeaten in all 4 leagues and that should alter on Saturday as we play at Leeds.

The FA Cup 3rd Qualifying round draw was made today with my side being awarded a home tie to Ryman league South side Walton & Hersham, and I am hoping for a somewhat quieter afternoon then the pick of the ties:

Dartford V Chelmsford City

Both have average home crowds of 1000+ and Chemsford currently 10th in the Blue Square South should provide Dartford with a real test in front of what could be a 2000+ crowd. If I was not at Sutton that day this is where I would be, I suspect that Chelmsford will bring up to 500 fans and they will segregate for this one?

Tonbridge V Bromley is another tie to look out for, but take your riot gear you might need it here :whistling:

I don't think it is very easy to segregate the ground at Dartford, and as far as I know it has never been done before, gates of 2000 plus whilst not common occur a couple of times per year, with the maximum being 4,200 on the fabulous day the Darts returned (nearly) home. They do borrow the stewards from Charlton for large troublesome games (Dover) when there is trouble, these guys are not to be messed with as they are mostly prison guards from Belmarsh who when you talk to the away fans at Charlton don't muck about.
I can't recall any previous between the two clubs, so lets hope football wins, and not the idiot fraction. Must admit there does seem to be some cracking fixtures, my favourite would be a little surprising but Dover v Welling looks interesting know doubt Dover will win, but it would be great to see the reverse result.
You can't beat the FA cup as a competition long may it live and long might the tradition continue untarnished by money.

Good news I guess we dont enter the FA cup till the 4th qualifying stage Posted Image

Welcome Hatter (I think?) yep I am afraid you belong to us lot now down in the bows of the ship.

I see you lost 1-0 tonight in front of a 8300 crowd, its amazing that you have 10 times the income of some of the sides in the conference yet you will not find it an easy league to get out of. There are some good sides outside the FL and there are many clinging to league places that would founder, but if Luton get it right and I am sure they will you will return to the league much better for being here.

Dartford's ground can definitely be segregated its part of the ground regs and they are looking at it but as I don't have any recent experience with Chelmsford (our leagues have never met) I would not like to guess the outcome.

Tonbridge I am sure will segregate against Bromley as both have problem elements. Dover I think will beat Welling although I doubt they will need to segregate as the Welling fans can just sit in the directors box and Dover can have the rest. The best bit about this game is where they are all going to park because there is none :)

A comfortable 1-0 win for Sutton today away at Aveley which is not a mile miles away from Dartford  Just 4 points off 2nd in the table but still 13pts behind the Darts but still plenty of time to go yet!

FA Cup for us as well next week.

Dartford playing at home to Chelmsford tomorrow, should be a good game and a large gate (2000+) be interesting to see how the mighty Darts cope playing a side that in all fairness should beat them as they are in a higher division. Can't make the game as i am going to Charlton.

Sorry Charltonkerry but the Darts go out defeated 4-1 and I hear the score was not reflective of the game bless em :) but it was in front of their biggest home gate of the season 1830.

Sutton progress to the 4QR by virtue of a 1-0 home win against Walton & Hersham who in truth never troubled us although it took a while for the Sutton side to settle we hit the post, the bar, had one chalked off for offside before scoring.

We look forward to Monday's draw and hope to avoid the big boys and get ourselves a home tie in an effort to make the 1st round proper again this season :)

A 4-1 defeat is a 4-1 defeat whatever way you look at it, hopefully it will do them good and bring them down to earth. What with Charlton Drawing and Berwick and england drawing plus a major breakdown on one of the coldstores we look after i certainly had better Saturdays. In fact any day must have been better than yesterday.
Depressed of Dartford :aggressive:
