International football is rubbish compared to proper club football. When there is nothing else on in the summer I will watch it, but I rarely watch it in the middle of the season.

Manchester United are getting Michael Owen...why?! He is a lower half Premier League player at best, he is way past his peak. Didn't exactly set St James' Park on fire did he?

Ummm makes perfect sense to me, he's on a free transfer on a pay per game basis and is part of a squad and will give our younger strikers some good advice like wellbeck and macheda so why not, he`ll be motivated by moving to the biggest club in the world playing with much better players than at newcastle and he's still only 29, he's a proven goal scorer and him and rooney link up well together, this could be very good news for englands prospects in next years world cup if these two start to play well together :o

So many times last season we didnt have a player to put away chances owen is perfect for that job as a goal poacher :D

He WAS a proven goalscorer, but he is nowhere near as prolific as he was before he left for Madrid. Since then his goalscoring record has gone steadily downhill. Off the field he could help the youngsters, but on the field it's a very risky one, but as no transfer fee was needed I suppose it is worth the gamble.

It's a a gamble but at his best he is/was a world class player.

A shrewd move by Fergie.....gets owen on a free, a proven class player, and still a great finisher....If fergie gets 20 games out of him a season, goals IMO are guarenteed & it'll be proven a great investment

I do recall that Owen became good for a time when Kevin Keegan was in charge of Newcastle. Could being managed by Fergie have the same effect? We'll have to see on that one, but it will be interesting.

Well, from the Birmingham City camp. We've signed a thug (Lee Bowyer) and McCleish does have eyes on another thug (Joey Barton). And as if we don't have a bad enough reputation already. Might as well fú****g sign Mike (bite yer ear off) Tyson as well. <_<

That's your midfield and a striker forward sorted. :D

Where is this going?? Sighs!

Phil.

If Barton ever played for my club I would boo him at every oppurtunity. He doesn't deserve to be a footballer, he is an absolute disgrace. I hope he stays with Newcastle so he can face the wonders of the Championship.

Wigan are set to sign Jason Scotland from us for about £2m, is he good enough for the Premier League, not sure, but I think he will get some goals.

Very happy with our three signings especially Owen, a masterstroke by Sir Alex, can't see anybody stopping us next season in domestic competitions apart from when fergie gives the academy a run out in the cups

Turncoat tevez left us purely for money and will not win anything with man city next season and will be on the bench at times too.

Who's going to play up front for Man City then?

Adebayor, Bellamy, Robinho, Santa Cruz & Tevez to name but 5 possibilities. Goodness even Dan Sturridge has left, and joined Chelsea, like he's going to get in their team  !

It doesn't matter how many goals they score, their defence is still rubbish! Could be entertaining though?

I was about to say they are the poor man's Real Madrid. But that might not be very smart considering they have one of the wwealthiest men in the world at the club!
Man utd to win the league. We have 4 good strikers now and valencia can create the chances that Owen needs to become a 20+ goals a season striker again.
I'm backing Rooney and Owen to get over 40 goals between them this season.

Oops meant to quote the man city post further up lol

We have a friendly against a Spurs XI next Tuesday, normally Clive Allen just brings the kids down but I am wondering as its only 3 days before the League opener whether I might get to meet some of the big boys, maybe even Patrick Viera :D
