Back in January, my son and I sat in a stand made of scaffold, freezing our bums off watching a poor Ipswich team comfortably beat Blackpool in the cup. Astonishing, but wonderful that they've done this!

10 years since Ipswich won the play-offs and I was there, so I know what a fantastic way it is to go up.

Aye, and we beat them comfortably 3-1 at Portman Road in the league as well and to be honest they looked a long way off play-off contenders then. Fair play to them, I am so pleased for them.

Wembley is no place for losers, I'd hate to lose there. Normally Ipswich lost the semi final legs without making the final, so have been spared that agony!

Blackpool have been fantastic nearly all the way through the season, and they thoroughly deserve to be promoted :D

I think the play-off idea is a complete farce

A team that came 6th is promoted? They collect a trophy? You are having a giraffe!

Does the team who comes 2nd pick up a trophy?

Whose the idiot who thought of this idea?

Yup, we won a runners up shield.

I like the play-offs, adds extra excitement at the end of the season. Although I think the Football League should adopt the idea of the lower leagues to give advantage to the higher placed sides. Each semi-final is one leg, and in the 3rd -v- 6th game it is at the 3rd placed home ground and in the 4th -v- 5th ground it is played at the 5th placed home ground. The final is then played at the home of the team who finished higher.

It depends on how good the conference players are. You might find some real gems.

Against that it keeps the season going longer rather than having a series of pointless games with players going through the motions and falling crowds.

I'm trying too understand why Sheffield United are trying too keep a substandard player such as Montgomery at the club. For most the season the guy can't pass a basic requirement of pro footballer. I'd let him go any offer is good money.

The Playoffs are probably one of the best things to happen to football in years, they keep interest going towards the end of the season, when otherwise they would be far more "dead games", they can be unfair and heartbreaking, but everyone knows the rules at the start of the season.

The play offs are fantastic, and keep the season alive for so much longer for many teams than if there was no play-off system. Otherwise we'd get to March, and the majority of teams would have nothing to play for, crowds would fall and football would lose a lot of its appeal. And thats without going into the excitement of the play offs themselves along with the extra revenue and crowds that they bring. 82,000+ at Wembley on Saturday shows the tremendous appeal and success of the play off system.
