Celestia, the google earth of the solar system:

http://www.shatters.net/celestia/

It is free software developed by the open source community so be sure to download it, this program is based on the real mathematics of the solar system so it gives very accurate representations of orbits and such, it also has real pictures of the planets / moons and asteroids taken by various space probes.

It may take you a while to get used to but once you get the basics no matter whether you are a seasoned astronomer or just a novice, Celestia will bring you hours of fun!

Stellarium is an open source planetarium for your computer and it is free

It shows a realistic sky in 3D.

Same as what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.

I've used it for a number of years

I've taken the co-ordinates from the nearest to me which is Bristol

When you zoom in to a satellite or a planet, our moon you can see it move in relation to us.

Enjoy

No idea whether this has been posted before

The LaMEVE (Large Magnitude Explosive Volcanic Eruptions) database has been a large collaborative effort. Data contributions have come from the Smithsonian Institution’s Global Volcanism Program (both their online Holocene database and an unpublished Quaternary dataset), the Geological Survey of Japan ( Quaternary and Active Volcanoes of Japan databases), as well as from the published literature. A large number of people have been involved in compiling the data over a number of years, mostly at the University of Bristol, UK: Natalia Deligne, Natalie Ortiz, Laura Hobbs, Hayley Dunning, Sian Crosweller, Sarah Brown, Koji Kiyosugi (University of South Florida), Michael Hodge, Emily Bowyer, Lucy Harper, Jenny Pooley, Sam Mitchell and Alex Clarke. The database was designed by Martin Nayembil and Baneet Arora (British Geological Survey) and Sian Crosweller (University of Bristol), with the web design and development carried out by Jonathan Lowndes, Karen Kilpatrick, Diego Diaz Doce and Baneet Arora (British Geological Survey).

Follow ships in real time crossing the oceans and seas of the world...there are 50,000 on the go at any one time. Follow on an interactive map.

You can select a number of ships as your favourites and zoom in on the world map and follow their route. You get information on the ship inc. destination, travel purpose, photos, news releases.

It might sound a bit slow and boring but it's not at all, it is seriously quite fascinating!

If you want to have your own ships you just need to sign up with some details, it is as simple as that.

Gravity waves influence weather and climate

Gravity waves form in the atmosphere as a result of destabilizing processes. The effects of gravity waves can only be taken into consideration by including additional special components in the models. (Goethe University Frankfurt)
