Bristol Rovers have some very tough fixtures in September.

Nottingham Forest at home on the 1st, Luton Town away on the 8th and the former
Premiership giants Leeds United at home on the 15th.

Then we have that awful long journey to Carlisle United away on the 22nd.

Bring it on!

A nice first home game against Forest, should be a big crowd to start the season.

Ah, a nice new thread....... Cheers Jackone :shok:

Lets hope Forest don't throw it away again this coming season. It will be interesting to see if Lennon can bring anything new to the club.

Must say I was disappointed to see Forest in this league again this season, they are bound to be there ore thereabouts again this season.

Leyton Orient at Roots Hall is the first game for Southend on their return to League one. Should be lively.

Well a massive blow for us just before the start to the season but hopefully the rumoured £1m (minimum) fee can be used to get quality players in athough nothing can ever replace Magic Daps, 85 goals and 38 assists in 163 games tells its own story.

Good Luck and Every success in the future, hopefully you will grace the Premiership soon.

So is this the start of the comeback for the mighty Leeds United - only on -6 pts now !!! Who knows, might be out of the bottom four by the end of September, which if true would be a pretty impressive achievement :good:

Indeed, and more surprising is that we seem to have a reasonably effective team at this level. Mind you, most of the opponents won't even be able to write 26,000 down, let alone have played in front of that many baying fans. The great thing about a good start is that players play with much more confidence (see the complete change in Kandol this season) and opponents effectively start (certainly an away game) 1-0 down. Not sure things would be so rosy had we not got slightly lucky at the mighty Tranmere on day 1, but we should take all we can get just now.
The thing that staggers me every day, is that no matter how much I think I know, the more that I do know, the more I realise there is to know.

Good to see Southend up to fifth after a poor start to the season. Hope the upward trend continues!

We're still 8th and we've just had our toughest match probably of the entire season.

I don't think the League has really taken shape, and although Carlisle and Tranmere will still be up there, I think it is unlikely either will be in top 2.

Forest and Leeds (if they continue in their amazing run) look favourites at this stage.

As for us, the majority of games we are dominating certainly possession wise but we are at times struggling for goals, and are a bit leaky at the back, but top 6 seems a possibility at the moment.

Good Performance today against a good Southend Side who came to play football, as opposed to putting 11 men behind the ball. The game certainly changed when a Southend player lost his head giving 2 yellow cards in a few minutes around the half hour mark.
Very pleased in the second half by the way we switched play form one side to the other in order to capitalise on the extra space.

Managed to avoid a FA Cup hangover today, with a relatively easy 2-0 win against Port Vale.

Hopefully we can build on this and forever banish the embarrassment of midweek, by keeping the winning run going.
