An uncurtian track - the attempt by many who are least likely to see snow to argue that an approaching depression's direction can in some way be changed by the presence of net curtains.

Snowflation (n): the devaluation of traditional units of measurement in the modern winter as snowfall becomes ever more scarce, leading to hyper inflation of snowfall. This can manifest itself both as measured fall (we've had 22 cm), and experienced conditions (it's a blizzard).
The thing that staggers me every day, is that no matter how much I think I know, the more that I do know, the more I realise there is to know.

Cantimetres - A revision of the SI unit (abbrev. cms) whereby a ruler can be tilted at an angle (a 'cant') to maximise measurement. Example - 5 cenitmetres vertically, becomes 7 cantimetres when the ruler is angled at 45º.

Hehe....so true.

Some people on here are certainly guilty of that.
There is a very simple reason why alternative energies such as solar, wind power and biomethane have not replaced coal, oil and natural gas. Solar, wind and biomethane are not profitable, nowhere near profitable enough. Our governments don't create their own money anymore. They borrow and they tax. So of course, they won't invest in renewables.

It's time to end our debt-based economic system.

Continental Air Miss - a huge pool of cold air that develops over the continent which either stubbornly refuses to edge west, or is forced in another direction - but definitely not within 500 miles of the UK.

Just noticed this one in the original list on Page 1 - very prophetic :wallbash:

Maybe we could have Japril - with April temperatures more reminiscent of the average June pre 1988.

Actually, Japril could work for Januaries of the modern winter, with temps in Jan more akin to those of the average April pre 1988!
