A Scottish Winter's Tale
Very sad news. I think he wasn't well for a while. Another young death in the Gibb family :(

tonight's ensemble have good support for high pressure to stay in charge for the foreseeable future, don't bank on a breakdown this weekend in the south and south west

I hope that's incorrect, because I want it to last well into June instead of the foreseeable future!

Although going back to your post, some areas getting affected by some hefty rain towards the end of the week, although this will be very temperamental and won't last very long.

I think it will last as well. We are due a good summer and we have bucked the trend of good Springs, so it's time to buck the trend of poor summers!

Net Weather forecasts showing a very cloudy week here in the West for next week, surely this can't be correct, as it shows rain for Thursday too? :S

I'm thinking the Pennines will help kill off most of the cloud for us here in the west, Paul. :) btw, are you on all of the Storm Chases?

I think it's unlikely that there will be much cloud around midweek, but it's easy to get caught out in these situations.

Thanks TWS, always good to hear your opinion, as you're right more often than not!

What a glorious day - warm in the bright sunshine, but still cool according to the thermometer :-)

Envious of those lucky continental fokes who are being treated to electrical skies - only about 100 miles away!

I'm going to Holland where those active storms are in early July, I bet the UK will get them instead then!

24c as early as tuesday the warmest spell of weather since late March, right on the east coast it will be cooler though, but inland the temperatures will soon respond to the strong sun, and as the week goes on temperatures are likely to rise further

Western areas will still do well in that easterly though, should remain warm in the west and to the west of high ground.

Unbelievably cool for late May this weekend(only 11C), dull with no sun whatsoever and a cool breeze

Its the same In Winter. Ignore these people as you can blatantly tell they are wishing for miserable weather on everyone. Doomslayers they really are.

I think 2 or 3 days is about right for my neck of the woods (Tyne and Wear) but it will almost certainly be more than that further west. 5-6 days minimum in W Scotland/NW England IMHO.

Indeed TWS, I think even into Wales and the W Mids, mostly sunny and warm conditions should prevail. :)

Next week is looking long and boring if you like convective weather. The only exception might be Wednesday afternoon when some sharp showers are possible.

Looking good for warm sunshine almost nationwide on Tuesday/Wednesday. Not sure about eastern areas post-Thursday though- could well become cooler and cloudier.

Why do people want to chase tornadoes for when they are far more destructive than hurricanes? They're an interesting weather event to enjoy from a distance, and one day I would even like to be in one, just once. Either way, many Floridians are hoping for an active hurricane season this year to relieve the drought situation.

Why do Chelsea deserve it?, it must be because they have spent hundreds of millions of pounds trying to win it, because it sure wasn't the fact that they were the best team.

Can someone please set the outdoor thermostat somewhere between 18 and 22 and leave it alone? Sheesh!
