Timanfaya National Park

Timanfaya National Park

Timanfaya National Park covers the municipalities of southern portion of Tinajo and the northern portion of Yaiza in the south western part of the island of Lanzarote this area was affected by volcanic eruptions that struck between 1730 and 1736, with subsequent eruptions in 1824. This long eruption process, one of the most significant and spectacular of the historic volcanism on Earth, drastically changed the morphology of the Island, leaving a quarter of it almost completely buried under a thick layer of lava and ash.
